Position: Athletic Health and Wellness Counselor
Reports to: Director of Athletics
The Athletic Health and Wellness Counselor is a vital role in supporting the mental health and performance of our student-athletes. This position focuses on enhancing self-efficacy, resilience, and overall well-being through individual counseling, team workshops, and collaboration with coaches and athletic staff. The successful candidate will use applied sport psychology principles to help student-athletes manage stress, improve focus, and overcome personal and performance-related challenges both on and off the field.

Key Responsibilities: - Provide confidential psychological counseling and performance coaching for student-athletes.
- Conduct workshops on coping strategies, goal setting, visualization, and relaxation techniques.
- Collaborate with coaches and staff to address stressors and promote athlete wellness.
- Support student-athletes coping with injuries, setbacks, and mental health challenges such as anxiety and depression.
- Use current research to develop and implement strategies that optimize athletic and personal performance.
- Partner with the Assistant AD for Academic Success and Community Engagement to identify and assist student-athletes in need of additional support.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Kinesiology, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Minimum of two years of experience in counseling, ideally with student-athletes.
- Membership in the Association for Applied Sport Psychology preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport.
- Deep passion for promoting holistic athlete development and enhancing self-efficacy.
