Job Description

About Norlee Group

Norlee Group is a multi-trade building systems organization delivering integrated electrical, mechanical, and technology solutions across commercial, industrial, institutional, and specialty markets. As part of our continued growth under the One Norlee platform, we are seeking a Director of Procurement to lead enterprise-wide procurement and supply chain strategy, operations, and team development across the organization.

About the Role

The Director of Safety is responsible for leading the Norlee Group Safety Department and driving a culture where safety is a core organizational value. This executive-level role influences behavior across all levels of the company, embedding safety into every operational decision and ensuring alignment with Norlee’s strategic and cultural goals.

The Director will provide vision, leadership, and technical expertise to develop and implement safety programs, policies, and initiatives that promote compliance, engagement, and continuous improvement. This role is both strategic and hands-on balancing high-level program development with regular field engagement to ensure a consistent and proactive safety culture across all business units and project sites.

What You’ll Do

  • Oversee all company-wide safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, state, and federal regulations.
  • Track and report key safety metrics including LTIFR, TRIR, EMR, prevention costs, and training completion rates.
  • Drive measurable improvement in Norlee’s Experience Modification Rate (EMR), targeting a reduction of 1–5 points within 24 months.
  • Establish systems for leading indicator tracking, incident analysis, and continuous performance improvement.
  • Benchmark Norlee’s programs against industry best practices through participation in trade associations and peer networks.
  • Lead and coordinate responses to safety audits, inspections, and regulatory inquiries, ensuring transparency and timely corrective actions.
  • Provide strategic guidance to senior leadership on safety initiatives, risk mitigation, and regulatory trends impacting the business.
  • Develop and execute targeted safety improvement programs for underperforming business units to enhance key safety metrics.
  • Direct the investigation of significant incidents, conducting root-cause analysis and developing preventative action plans.
  • Oversee workers’ compensation cases, reporting, and post-incident follow-up with corrective and preventive measures.
  • Collaborate with training and safety teams to deliver a mix of in-person and digital learning solutions.
  • Conduct “red flag” or targeted training sessions in response to incidents or identified risks.
  • Promote Norlee’s Safety Vision and Mission, ensuring safety remains a shared value across all Norlee companies.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline required.
  • 20+ years of progressive experience developing, implementing, and managing safety programs; 10+ years within the electrical or mechanical contracting industry strongly preferred.
  • Certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), OHST (Occupational Health and Safety Technician), or equivalent are strongly preferred.
  • Must hold or be eligible for OSHA 500, Lockout/Tagout, and Arc Flash certifications.
  • Proven leadership experience managing multi-site safety programs and teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to interpret safety data and identify trends.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex safety and operational concepts for all audiences.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and industry-specific safety management and compliance tools.

Travel and Site Engagement

This role requires periodic air and ground travel throughout the U.S. to visit Norlee offices and active project sites. During site visits, the Director must be able to walk on uneven terrain, navigate active construction environments, and observe field operations safely and effectively. Travel frequency varies by business needs, emphasizing a strong, visible field presence across all Norlee companies.

Why Join Norlee

At Norlee Group, we’re building more than structures, we’re building a legacy of safety, excellence, and accountability. As our Director of Safety, you’ll have the opportunity to shape and lead the culture that protects our people and drives operational excellence across our diverse family of companies.

We offer:

  • Competitive compensation and performance-based incentives
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid Time Off

  • Professional development and advancement opportunities
