What You'll Do

As a Mortgage Underwriter II , you'll be the decision-maker behind complex lending scenarios, balancing risk and compliance while keeping member service at the forefront. Key responsibilities include:

• Reviewing and analyzing mortgage applications, verifying income, credit, and collateral details.
• Ensuring all decisions align with internal guidelines, regulatory requirements, and secondary market standards.
• Clearly communicating loan outcomes and documentation needs to internal teams and members.
• Spotting high-risk factors, exceptions, and potential fraud with well-supported recommendations.
• Acting as a mentor to Underwriter I team members and providing expertise to lending staff.
• Driving process improvements, supporting audits, and contributing to continuous efficiency initiatives.

What You'll Bring

• Education: Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field preferred-or equivalent work experience in underwriting or financial services.
• Experience: 4-6 years of underwriting experience with mortgage loans.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with automated underwriting systems like DU or LP.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with TILA, RESPA, HMDA, FCRA, and related compliance requirements.
• Leadership & Teamwork: Strong ability to mentor peers, share knowledge, and work collaboratively to solve problems.
