Labor Dispute in Progress

Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is seeking Munition Mechanics for our facility in St. Charles, MO.

On this team you will be assembling and integrating cutting-edge munitions like Joint Direct Attack Munitions and Small Diameter Bombs. Your work includes hands-on tasks like drilling, bonding, soldering, crimping, and installing fasteners and cannon plugs—bringing advanced guidance systems to life.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, install, bond repair and rework of mechanical and electrical parts and assemblies which may include work such as drilling, tapping, insert installation and removal of fasteners
  • Wire crimping, soldering, insertion and removal of pins on cannon plugs, rivet installation and removal, of goods
  • Operating a fork truck or other powered industrial vehicles for JDAM, JDAM variants, SDB, SDB Development and new programs where Munition Mechanic work is currently performed

The work of this classification includes the assembly, integration and test of guidance control units, mission computers, guidance kits and telemetry and flight termination systems also referred to as units.

  • Supply kits/parts/units to production and/or customers
  • Hook up and operate test equipment
  • Apply stenciling and perform minor paint touch up
  • Perform all functions “dock to dock” necessary to receive, store, stock/restock inventory, assemble and ship parts, units and supplies for work described herein
  • Identify and prepare units for shipment, which includes bar coding, bagging, sealing, placing in container, strapping container, etc. and verify and sign off accurate completion of work sequences
  • Operate various production equipment such as thermal chambers and vibration tables
  • Use computers and computer programs systems required to document receipt of par and completions of work performed
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools and precision measuring tools necessary to perform the duties described above
  • Maintain good housekeeping and practice in work Clean As You Go

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location option.

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience) :

  • Experience using Hand and/or air (pneumatic) tools
  • 1+ year of experience working with precision measuring tools (Torque wrenches, scales, etc.)
  • 1+ year of experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or assembly processes and procedures
  • Must be able to work any shift, overtime and holidays as required.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience) :

  • Experience operating a forklift
  • Experience working with military weapon systems
  • Experience driving heavy commercial trucks
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent

Typical Education / Experience:

High school graduate or GED. Prefer a minimum of one (1) or more years of related work experience.

The following Physical Demands may be requirements of this job:

Limited (0-1 Hrs) Crawling, Lying Down (back, front, side), Forceful grasping, Occasional (1-3 Hrs) Requires lifting, pushing, pulling, and supporting up to 35lbs, Bending at the waist, kneeling, crouching, squatting, reaching. The position may have frequent (3-6 hrs) exposure to Noise. Exposure to noise, moving parts and occasional exposure to high/exposed places. Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling up to 35 lbs. Frequent standing, reaching, handling, and turning. Working on elevated and/or uneven surfaces. This position requires eye, hearing and other personal protective equipment, frequent (up to 8 hours) of standing, occasional (1-3 Hrs) climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, squatting and working on ladders. Use of personal protective equipment for face/eyes and ears may be required.

Additional Information:

  • This is an hourly position that will be governed by the IAM Collective Bargaining agreement
  • The selected candidate must be able to work any shift, as assigned
  • New Hires, as well as employees who transfer from non-union positions, may be required to attend some type of training upon their start. All new employees, rehires without seniority or transfers from outside of IAM 837 jurisdiction, shall be regarded as probationary during their first one hundred twenty (120) calendar days of employment. Continued employment is contingent upon successful completion of the probationary period

Summary pay range: $19.65/hr. - $24.15/hr
