Position Information Position Number: POST40 Working Title: Postdoctoral Fellow for Sport Psychology Division: Department Counseling & Health Services (Adm) Work Unit: Counseling & Psychological Center Work Location: Price Center Vacancy Open To: All Candidates Position Designation: Post Doc Employment Type: Temporary - Part-time Hours per week: 40 Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Pay Rate: $50,000 Required Qualifications Earned doctorate in counseling or clinical psychology from an APA‑accredited program, completion of an APA‑accredited internship prior to the fellowship start date, and demonstration of a completed dissertation by the end of the spring semester preceding the start date. Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education Strong clinical skills, clinical experience with young adults, competency serving a diverse client population, desire to work within a multidisciplinary team. Preference for experience with college athletes and athletic departments, though not required. Duties and Responsibilities The Counseling and Psychological Services Center (CAPS) at the University of North Carolina Charlotte is seeking applicants for a 12‑month, full‑time postdoctoral fellowship embedded within Charlotte Athletics to begin in early August 2026. The postdoctoral fellowship is designed for individuals seeking licensure and advanced training in providing mental health and sport performance services to collegiate student‑athletes. Primary responsibilities include individual therapy, intake interviews, crisis intervention, outreach and consultation to student‑athletes, coaches, and athletic staff, and consultation with Charlotte coaches, staff, sports medicine colleagues, and student‑athletes regarding student behavior, mental health, performance enhancement, counseling, and education. The fellow will receive weekly clinical supervision, participate in weekly didactic training support, and attend a monthly postdoc professional development seminar. Necessary Licenses or Certifications Same as required qualifications (earned doctorate, APA‑accredited internship, completed dissertation).
