Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Refrigeration Manager to oversee the maintenance, operation, and compliance of industrial refrigeration systems across our Gonzales facility. This role is critical to ensure food safety, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Oversight : Comprehensive management and maintenance of all refrigeration equipment and infrastructure dedicated to the production of fresh-cut salads and vegetables for a large retail-oriented producer. Primary focus includes effective operational management and preventative maintenance of all multi-stage liquid ammonia and glycol refrigeration systems such as recirculating pumps and vessels, motors, compressors, evaporators and condensers, liquid transfer systems, heat exchangers, chilled water piping and delivery systems.
  • Preventive Maintenance : Develop and execute preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and ensure system reliability.
  • Emergency Response : Respond to urgent equipment failures and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Facility Management : Oversee HVAC, compressed air, refrigeration systems, and environmental and safety equipment permits.
  • Project Leadership : Lead capital improvement projects and collaborate with engineering teams and vendors.
  • Budgeting : Manage departmental operating budgets and capital expenditures, ensuring cost effective solutions.
  • Compliance : Ensure adherence to OSHA, FDA, GMP, SQF, and IIAR standards.
  • RMP/PSM Administration : Administer and coordinate the Risk Management Program (PSM/RMP), including emergency action plans and respiratory programs.
  • Team Development : Supervise and mentor refrigeration technicians; support RETA certification and training.

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years’ experience in an industrial refrigeration environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
  • Ability to work flexible hours and respond to emergencies
  • RETA Certified or equivalent
  • PSM/RMP program development experience
