Overview

CFR’s David Rockefeller Studies Program is one of the country’s largest foreign policy think tanks with a widely respected and influential research staff. The Studies Program aims to advance the discussion of American foreign policy and international affairs through its writing, publications, public outreach, and discussions.

The Research Associate will work under the direction of the senior fellow on projects related to Korea Studies. This position is based in CFR’s New York office on a hybrid basis. CFR currently defines hybrid status as working at least three days a week onsite, with Tuesdays and Thursdays considered institutional anchor days where all staff are required to be onsite.

The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):

  • Conducting research for articles, book chapters, and other publications, as requested by the senior fellow, including both English and Korean language source material
  • Providing administrative support to the senior fellow, including scheduling, making travel arrangements, handling correspondence, and responding to requests for information
  • Coordinating events, including preparing invitations, corresponding with speakers, making travel arrangements, preparing background papers and materials for distribution, and providing other logistical support
  • Assisting with the drafting, proofreading, and editing of written material, including grant proposals and reports
  • Assist in managing the editing, production, and dissemination of a monthly newsletter
  • Assisting in managing budgets, including tracking monthly statements and grant information, drafting reports, and preparing vouchers for reimbursement
  • Assisting the fellow with social media outreach, including publishing a blog, website, video and/or using social media applications, as needed
  • Providing support across departmental lines and for other fellows, upon request

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in international relations, political science, Asian studies, history, or related field
  • Full-professional proficiency in Korean at minimum and living experience in South Korea preferred
  • Demonstrated academic work on foreign relations of Korea
  • Excellent skills in research, writing, editing, organization, and high attention to detail
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Twitter or other social media
  • 1+ years administrative experience preferred

Pay Range

$51,000 to $54,000 per year

Pay commensurate with experience and education
