Substation Technician

Compensation

This position offers a competitive salary starting at $62,400 , with top earners making up to $106,080 annually -based on experience, qualifications, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute in-shop and field transformer testing (Power Factor, Excitation, resistance) per NETA/ANSI standards

• Maintain and operate mechanical systems including pumps, valves, and oil processing units

• Diagnose and troubleshoot transformer issues using advanced testing methods and equipment

• Perform acceptance testing and preventive maintenance aligned with industry protocols

• Operate specialized tools including DOBLE Power Factor Testers, Megohmmeters, AC/DC volt-ohm-millimeters, and hand-held power tools

• Travel for multi-day field assignments; flexible availability for overtime, nights, weekends, and occasional holidays

Core Competencies

• Proven substation services experience

• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills

• Field service and installation expertise

• Skilled in hand tools, pneumatics, and preventive maintenance

• Familiarity with substation design and layout

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; technical degree in Industrial Maintenance or Electrical/Electronic Technology preferred

• 10+ years of relevant substation experience strongly preferred

• Solid foundation in electrical theory

• Military background is a plus
