Job Description

Diamond Foundry Inc. is solving the thermal limitation at the foundation of today's most exciting tech industries -- AI & cloud compute, electric-car power electronics, and 5G/6G wireless. We have managed to produce the world's first single-crystal diamond wafers and are now on a mission to put a diamond behind every chip. We are the rare unicorn that has grown fast and profitably. We received $515m in funding and are executing a multi-$B expansion plan for one of the greenest forms of tech manufacturing: converting greenhouse gas into diamond wafers using zero-emission energy.

Diamond Foundry is looking for a highly experienced and innovative mechanical design engineer to lead high-visibility R&D projects within the Reactor Development Group. This individual will primarily design and develop Plasma-Enhanced CVD reactor equipment and other systems used in the growth and manufacture of diamond. The candidate should have experience leading multiple projects and teams with a strong success record.

Responsibilities

  1. Serve as a mentor to team members and collaborate effectively within a team environment. Lead projects across multiple departments.
  2. Oversee manufacturing of machined components and guide designs from R&D to production, balancing performance and cost considerations.
  3. Design and develop new reactor systems and components, applying expertise in machine design, mechanics, thermals, and fluids. Conduct analytical or numerical evaluations of designs.
  4. Manage prototyping, documentation, and manufacturing processes of reactor designs, including preparing drawings and coordinating with machine shops and vendors.
  5. Troubleshoot issues on existing reactor hardware and work with engineers to implement design improvements that enhance productivity and reactor yield.

Requirements

  1. 10+ years of professional experience in mechanical design; advanced degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering preferred.
  2. Expert-level knowledge in mechanical design for high-vacuum systems; experience with semiconductor tools, accelerators, or vacuum electronics is desired.
  3. Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks) and PLM (Teamcenter) software.
  4. Extensive experience with manufacturing methods and hands-on experience with industrial machine tools. Strong understanding of electromechanical system design.
  5. An optimistic, creative, and curious mindset with a hands-on approach to hardware designs.

Salary range: $185,000 - $225,000 per year

Diamond Foundry offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance, flexible spending accounts, retirement plans, life and disability insurance, and employee discounts. Benefits start from day one.

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and consider all qualified applicants regardless of race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, age, disability, veteran status, or other protected factors.

Our commitment extends to legal and regulatory compliance, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment. Physical requirements include the ability to sit, stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform various physical tasks with appropriate PPE and safety practices.

This employer participates in E-Verify and will verify your eligibility to work in the U.S. through the federal government.
