About STANCE:

Founded in 2022, STANCE is the first and only chorus by and for gender expansive singers in Washington State. We serve Seattle, King County, and the Puget Sound region by building an inclusive and accessible community, educating singers, and performing music centered on celebrating the diversity and resilience of trans and nonbinary people. Our bi-annual concerts coincide with Pride Month in June and Transgender Day of Remembrance in November. Our all-skill-level community choir of over 100 members has both a weekly rehearsal chorus and an ad hoc outreach ensemble. Our hope is to continue to grow our capacity to fully meet the needs of the local community.

STANCEs Mission:

To provide a vocal community free of gendered expectations, by and for Transgender and Nonbinary singers, to explore and express ourselves through music.

By building a community of trans and nonbinary singers, we aim to foster an environment where changing voices are authentically embraced. Our vision is an inclusive and accessible singing community where intersecting identities are centered at all levels of the organization. Through our music, both singers and audiences are encouraged to find embodiment and connect to our full selves, physical and emotional.
